Here's our visual depiction of the transformation: {concept} When we first toured Twin Gables with the intent to buy it, we could not believe the light and energy exuding from the kitchen! Even more unbelievable was that the kitchen was entirely off limit to guests as it was used solely as the Innkeepers office and Housekeeping room. We knew it would be a big undertaking to make it guest-ready but we also saw the value in doing so. {before} {process} Needless t

Here's our visual depiction of the transformation: {concept} Coming into the back hallway, the space was dark and crowded with underwhelming neutral patterns. We wanted to create a sense of escape, a little oasis within the hotel by introducing bold colors and floral/nature motifs. {before} {process} The floors of the hallway were stripped, cleaned, and painted white to allow light to bounce. We added real lighting with ombre semi flush mounts from West Elm and
{concept} One of our favorite musicals is Les Miserables and when we rehabbed the Twin Gables inn, we decided to pay homage to the song Castle on a Cloud. We created a sky scene with white, fluffy clouds and stars in the back hallway, which was previously one of the most depressing spots in the old Victorian house. {before} {process} Our Junior Designer, Chelsea, first painted the walls and the ceiling in Annie Sloan Louis Blue. Next she created her own cardboard stencil for
{the journey} Here's our visual depiction of the transformation: {concept} As you may have previously read, The Gables was designed to give a moment of open space, in monochromatically light colors. We thought it would be fun to accentuate the contrast by adding the complete opposite just before - a set of RAINBOW stairs! It's now a fun surprise that everyone that comes to the house loves to see. {before} {process} To paint the colors we mixed an assortment of Annie Sloan Cha
{the journey} Here's our visual depiction of the transformation: {concept} If you haven't been able to find rooms 8 and 9, that's because they were originally up in The Gables! For a long time the two rooms were used for storage. With our current renovations, both Gables rooms were completely gutted and rebuilt with brand new windows, ceilings + walls and the addition of electricity. (Wow!) The right side of the Gables was turned into a little 'getaway' space within the house
{the journey} Here's our visual depiction of the transformation: {concept} If you haven't been able to find rooms 8 and 9, that's because they were originally up in The Gables! For a long time the two rooms were used for storage, which was such a shame, given their natural light and they are our hotel's namesake! With our current renovations, both dormant Gables rooms were completely gutted and rebuilt with brand new windows, ceilings + walls plus the installation of lighting
{the journey} Here's our visual depiction of the transformation: {concept} In finding art to inspire the themes of each room, we fell in love with this lounging goddess woman in violet hues. We wanted to capture the motion and essence of the art, and to do so incorporated pieces like the rainbow aura mirror, the tiffany-inspired overhead lampshade, and iridescent faux gem lamps. {before} {process} Because the design of this room included so much color and pattern, we painted
{the journey} Here's our visual depiction of the transformation: {concept} In designing the Secret Garden Suite, we wanted to include elements that would accentuate the vintage red Toile wallpaper that was original to the room. Features of an outdoor garden oasis included incorporating hanging birdcage pendant lamps and various stone busts/statues. {before} {process} Initially the entire room was covered in the French Toile wallpaper, but we decided to leave one statement wal
{the journey} Here's our visual depiction of the transformation: {concept} Inspired by black and white motif, the Monochromatic Suite was designed to have a whimsical, bold, black and white stylized look. We wanted to create each room at Twin Gables with local artists featured in each. Our friend + renown artist Paddy Cohn custom-designed a piece specifically for this room! {before} {process} As usual, we updated the space with clean white walls and funky new lighting fixture
Having been around since 1880, Twin Gables has seen a lot of life throughout the years...so much so that a few lives may have stuck around, beyond the grave! To celebrate the spooky season we've been featuring fun videos about these haunts on our TikTok. See the video about Queenie in part one and about Uncle Redd in part two . One night we were digging through some old guest books, and found numerous entries by by guests naming spirits that seems to haunt the hotel. Among th
